Lagos born to Palestinian Jordanian parents, I spent my early years between Lagos and Amman. My interest in cross-cultures led me to pursue a degree in International Studies at American University in Washington DC. Upon graduation, I returned to Amman to work and soon found a passion for tourism development. My professional career led me to specialise in the relationship between travel and photography. Influenced by my growing interest in the impact of imagery I completed an MA in Photography and Design at ELISAVA, Barcelona.
I am most interested in exploring the role of imagery in every aspect of our lives. Be it the mundane everyday relationship we have with images, or to how we use visual language to understand the world, it’s people and events. The time I spent between Africa, the Middle East, US and Europe is the main source of inspiration for my work. I am interested in drawing links between the ends of the worlds through studying our visual history. I work in performative ways that acknowledge the presence of the camera and question the role of photographic representation.
